Our Program

Our program has been fined tunes for years to make it the success it is now. We have made sure that we cover all of the developmental areas and educational requirements for each age group. We constantly adapt our program as well.

Sunny Skies Nursery School weekly themes

Weekly themes
We have weekly themes through which we teach the children at Sunny Skies about themselves, the world around them and all the necessary skills to be school ready.

Cookie day
Once a week we ask one child to be the Baker for the day where they have the opportunity to dress up as a baker man/lady (supplied by school) and “sell” their cookies to the other children. This teaches many teach skills including trade, manners and delayed gratification.

Singing
We believe that music is a crucial part of children’s education and weekly we have a combined singing class for the whole school. We sing fun, easy and child friendly songs to teach memory and harmony.

Physical education
Just as important as music is the physical education of children. We work with the two older groups in practicing and perfecting their gross motor skills with the aid of various equipment and music during a weekly dedicated class. The two younger groups do the same as part of their normal class time.

Show and tell
Through a fun activity such as show and tell we teach children about self confidence, speaking in front of their peers and vocabulary. Once a week they are allowed to bring an item to school from home to tell their friends about. For most of the children this is their favourite activity.

Sunny Skies Nursery School cake raffle

Cake raffle
What is Pre-School without a bit of fun. Every week we have a cake raffle. Each child’s name gets entered in the draw and they have the chance to win the cake. The only cost to families is the replacement of the cake, the week after you win it. Once again this is not just a fun activity but teaches patience as someone wins the 1st week and someone wins the last week.

Manners 4 Minors
For our 4 year olds we have an additional class weekly called Manners4Minors. The goal of the program is to help develop a foundation for more socially successful children. Visit their website for more information (manner4minors.com)

Dotty Drama Program
For our 5 year olds we have a weekly additional drama class. The classes aim to develop skills such as co-ordination, conversation, self-esteem, confidence, enthusiasm, discipline, memory, performance and creativity. Visit their website for more information (www.dottydrama.wordpress.com)
