Sunny Skies Nursery School has been operating since 1966. It has had three owners including the current, which is Daneël Cluer. The school has always been a corner stone of the Meadowridge community.
Sunny Skies Nursery School caters for children between 18 months – 5 years. We are also an After School care centre for our children as well as schools in the area up to Grade 2
We cater for ages between 18 months – 5 years. Sunny Skies serves as an After School care centre for our children as well as schools in the area up to Grade 2. The school currently employs four teachers of varying qualifications, 2 assistants, 1 after care assistant and a full time cleaner.
Our school is situated between the Meadowridge Library and Meadowridge Bowling Club in Howard drive. Our school premises houses 4 classes. The Kittens (youngest), Bunnies – our 3 year olds, Bugs – our 4 year olds and Owls – our 5 year olds (Pre-Grade R) Our main class area is also used in it entirety for bigger activities such as gym, singing, etc.
Each indoor area has its own toys, dress up, blocks, pencils, paints, etc. The classes are fully equipped with all a little one’s heart can desire.
Our outdoor area has three large jungle gyms that include a crawl tunnel, tyre gym, monkey bars and much more. A large slide, two large tyre swings, two smaller individual tyre swings, a climbing frame, sand pit and bike track. We also have many outdoor play equipment such as bikes, bats, balls, etc.
The Sunny Skies Nursery School’s outdoor area has three large jungle gyms that include a crawl tunnel, tyre gym, monkey bars and much more.
Our indoor and outdoor play zones offer children an environment of challenge and opportunity where they can be involved in many sensory experiences. Our purposeful play activities take place both indoors and outdoors, using as many natural materials as possible to enhance and extend each child’s understanding of the world around them.
The current premises is owned by the council and has been leased to the school for over 25+ years. We have improved the site by putting down artificial grass and many other play equipment.
We are lucky to have security within the area that we are in as there is a shopping centre across the road, library next door (with a security guard) and many dog walkers that use the open area behind the school. We are completely enclosed behind a fence and the only access is through the front door that is always locked or controlled by a teacher.
Our large off street parking area helps with the pick up and drop off of children.
Our doors open at 07h00 with one of the teachers that are there to welcome all the early birds. Our school day then starts at 08h00 until 12h15. For our working parents we have after care till 18h00. We also have an aftercare facility for the local schools. We cater for their Grade R – Grade 2.
At Sunny Skies nursery School, we are focused on helping the children to become happy, healthy and well-educated children in loving, educational and family orientated surroundings. We care, we teach and we love.
Sunny Skies has and will always be important to the community. Our area is one of young families and new parents to be and for that, reason will always need the services of our school. Sunny Skies has always been a good school with good teachers and reasonable fees. Some of the other schools in the area are built on how much money they can ‘fund raise’ or how ‘exclusive’ they can be. We are focused on helping the children to become happy, healthy and well-educated children in loving, educational and family orientated surroundings. We care, we teach and we love.
At present, our aim as a school is to go from strength to strength and make the school even better.
